All Monster Trucks must satisfy the following specifications:
Minimum track width - - - - - - - - - - - - - Continuous 10 feet (same as 8th scales)

Transmission - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - 1, 2 or 3 speed are OK (ROAR exception ref:6-18)

Bodies - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Truck or SUV (no buggy or car bodies allowed - ref:3-16)
Bumpers - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -Bumpers are optional. If used, must not extend further than 1" past the body on the front and rear.
Rear Spoiler/Wing - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - A spoiler/wing is optional. The width of spoiler/wing must not exceed body width
Skid Plates - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -Skid Plates must not extend further than 1" past the body on the front and rear.
Tires - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -Must be rubber only and currently available to the public (i.e. in hobbyshops at least 2 weeks prior to event) as a Monster Truck tire. No tires created for other vehicle types even if they fit the specifications will be allowed. Cutting or modifying the tread is allowed. Modifying the tire carcass is prohibited (i.e. no "CUT" tires - whether they started as a Monster Truck tire or not). All tire measurements reference the carcass dimensions and does not include the tread depth or width.

NOTES:
1) Most Power Plants used in MTs are currently not approved for existing ROAR racing classes, nor are the exhaust systems. All 2-stroke engines measuring .12 to .28ci and all exhaust systems meeting ROAR noise regulations (ROAR ref:6-47) will be allowed on a provisional basis. No port, timing or plug restrictions will be in place.
2) Monster Trucks will be weighed RTR (body, wheels, Rx batt, etc.) minus fuel.(ROAR should adopt this as a definition for all classes)
3) 3 channel radios are permitted, but control is limited to forward, brake, shifting and steering (Roar exception ref:1-57 - ROAR should adopt this as a definition for all classes)
4) Bodies may be trimmed past the trim line to accommodate exhaust pipes only (ROAR exception ref:3-12 - ROAR should adopt this as a definition for all classes)
5) 8th scale wings are allowed if they fit within the above specification (they may be modified to fit).
6) Two or four wheel drive allowed.
7) Metal skidplates and chassis components are only allowed if safely attached and pose no danger to drivers, pit persons or turn marshals. Any Monster Truck may be inspected for safety at any time by a ROAR official. Any component, regardless of material composition, that is deemed hazardous must be removed and/or replaced. The MT will not be allowed to compete until the ROAR official is satisfied it is safe.
Fuel tanks are defined as: Complete onboard fuel storage. This may include, 1 tank, fuel lines and filters (ROAR should adopt this as a definition for all classes).
Individual Classes will be divided 2 ways (plus electric) defined as "STANDARD MONSTER TRUCK" and "OUTLAW MONSTER TRUCK"
STANDARD MONSTER TRUCK (May be also be referred to as "MONSTER TRUCK"), FUEL, OFF-ROAD
Scale - unknown (1/10-1/8?)
Description:
To be a Standard MT, the lowest point of the engine must sit 1.5" inches above the lowest point along the front-back centerline when compressed (usually the "skid plates").
To tech questionable MTs, remove the wheels, place MT on flat surface, compress the vehicle fully and a ruler (or 1.5" guage) could be used vertically to measure the engine above the surface.
I have confirmed the following trucks to fit within the above definition: T(and S)-Maxxes, Savage, MGT, Revo, TNX/TC. The LST is unknown (still haven't heard back from Adam Drake, but it looks like it'll be the tallest of all, so it may be irrellevent)

2) If enough entries exist, this class should be further separated by engine size: .12ci-.18ci and .19ci-.28ci
OUTLAW MONSTER TRUCK (May be referred to as "OUTLAW MONSTER TRUCK" or "UNLIMITED MONSTER TRUCK"), FUEL, OFF-ROAD
Scale - unknown (1/10-1/8?)
Description:
Any Monster Truck that does not 100% meet the Standard MONSTER TRUCK specifications while still meeting the below guidelines. Standard Monster Trucks may also enter the Outlaw class.

ELECTRIC MONSTER TRUCK (May be referred to as "ELECTRICS MONSTER TRUCKS" or "EMTs"), ELECTRIC, OFF-ROAD
Scale - unknown (1/10-1/8?)
Description:
EMTS fit both Standard and Outlaw MT definition using the Batteries as the item to measure instead of the engine. EMTs also ignore all Engine rules while substituting the following:
Motors - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Any 540-550 sized brushed motors (maximum of 2 motors may be mounted for use) or any Single Brushless or Brushed motor larger than a 550 can.
Batteries - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Any ROAR approved surface use cell (rated at 1.2v/cell)
Cell Counts - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - 540/550 Brushed: 14 maximum, Brushless/551+ Brushed: 18 maximum (Either may use an additional 5-6 cell Rx pack for BEC)
Minimum weight - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - 540/550 Brushed: 2750grams (~6 pounds), Brushless/551+ Brushed: 4300 grams (~9.5 pounds)
NOTES:
1) When EMTs are run in a separate class without Fuel based MTs, Qualifiers and Mains are the ROAR electric standard 5 minutes.
2) Electric Monster Trucks will be weighed completely RTR (body, wheels, motors, batts, etc.).
ROAR rules referenced by the MT rules draft:
1-57: Radios are limited to the use of two channels, operating two servos, or a combination of one servo and one electronic speed control. More than one function is allowed per device, but a servo is limited to one output shaft. Control is limited to forward, brake, and steering. The use of reverse in competition is not allowed. Three channels may be used on 1/5 scale vehicles, but control is limited to forward, brake and steering.
3-12: Bodies cannot be trimmed higher than the lower body trim line. Unless otherwise stated in Appendix-A, the rear section of a body may be cut out as long as the rear sides and quarter panels, including the tail lights and side portion of the rear bumper remain intact. It is recommended that some portion of the cut line remain visible to help speed technical inspection. If the body has no lower body trim line, then the fold line is considered the cut line.
3-16: Because actual off-road racing buggy and truck bodies are sometimes just sheets of material attached to a framework, we cannot expect ROAR off-road bodies to resemble something specific. Buggy and truck bodies used in ROAR events should resemble those used in full scale off-road and stadium racing. Refer to off-road buggy and truck body diagrams and dimensions listed in the Appendix of this rule book for details. Body rules 3-4 through 3-14 apply. Sedans, out-of-scale truck, and van bodies are prohibited.
6-18: All gearboxes must be on a single shaft. Multiple-speed transmissions are allowed for some on-road classes (see vehicle specifications), but not for off-road racing. Automatic or variable overdrive systems are not allowed.
6-47: Maximum noise level allowed is 85 dB (a) measured at a 90 degree angle to the side of the vehicle at a distance of 33 feet, 3 feet above the ground, with the engine at maximum throttle and at all speeds. The Race Director may decide on a different method of noise measurement as long as the results are the same. If there is no noise level equipment available, the Race Director and a Host Facility representative can decide if a car, that produces a noise level much in excess of the other cars, will be allowed to compete.
